Why adopt again?
We get this question a lot, so I thought I would write a little about it.
Here is the short answer:
There are 147 million orphans.
We have room in our home. (and No it is NOT a mansion or even a large house)
We have room in our hearts.God commands us to care for orphans/widows.
147 million little souls need to know Love. (the unconditional love of a family but more importantly the unconditional Love of God)
How can you afford it AGAIN?
Ummmm.....we can't! We couldn't afford it the first time either. But that's part of the awesomeness of our story-really Gods' story. All He wants is our Heart and for us to obey. He will make the impossible happen, and He did. We sacrificed, cut out anything frivolous. We cut our budget by canceling cable and our land line(everyone calls our cell phone anyway). Then God put it on other people's hearts to use the finances He has given them to help us. We also applied for grants likeShowHope, ABBA Fund and Lifesong for Orphans.
We were awarded a grant through Showhope which helped with our traveling expenses. A lot of people take out loans, home equity loans, lines of credits, credit cards, which is a personal finance choice. For us, we had a commitment to get out of debt and stay out of debt. This was a choice God would honor for us.
Now that we look back it is amazing to see how God worked it all out in all areas of our adoption, but specifically financially. The average adoption is $30.000. This scares most people from taking the first step. Don't let it!!! Take a leap of faith-STEP OUT OF THAT BOAT of fear. If God is calling you to adopt, be confident that He WILL PROVIDE.
